An incredible day of learning and networking at #eHealth2023

This past June, I attended e-Health Conference 2023, which took place at the Beanfield Centre in Toronto. The two-day event was a unique in-person opportunity to mingle with leaders in the Canadian digital health space.

The conference brought together upwards of 1,200 healthcare professionals, expert panelists, presenters, and leading-edge exhibitors providing memorable education and opportunities to share insights.

I left feeling inspired by all of the innovation happening to make a difference in healthcare delivery in Canada and across the globe. An added bonus of attending was the reminder to myself about how much I enjoy networking in person and making new connections to learn and expand my thinking.

Since it was my first time attending the conference, I thought I would write a recap for folks out there who are considering attending next year.

What is the e-Health Conference

The annual e-Health Conference and Tradeshow is Canada’s largest meeting of digital health professionals, offering learning and an opportunity to network with organizations and people that value quality health information as well as the integration of digital health into Canada’s healthcare system.

The conference is known as the premier event for Canadian digital health professionals working to make a difference in health and healthcare delivery.

e-Health is co-hosted by Digital Health Canada, Canada Health Infoway, and the Canadian Institute for Health Information.

What is Health system interoperability

Interoperability was a leading topic of discussion at the conference.

Interoperability is defined as the ability of computer systems or software to exchange and make use of information.

In his recent blog post, Michael Green President and CEO of Canada Health Infoway wrote that, “we need to continue to work together to improve the ability of health IT systems to speak the same language so patient health information can flow seamlessly among them. This will result in greater efficiencies for our health system and for clinicians, and better health care and better outcomes for patients.”

For more information on Health system interoperability, Canada Health Infoway has put together a helpful explainer, which you can check out here: Enabling connection and communication across the health system.
